First entry, so I’ll share a little bit about me, in case you’re interested or unable to sleep because of not knowing something:
Captain’s log, it’s half of 2020 and humanity is in a strong transition because of the bug. I’ll be a father in a short time, and that excites me a lot. It enriches my faith, my day to day, the love I have to my wife, and my seriousness about my professional life; and I believe that in this last aspect of my life resides what is important for this post.
The goal I’ve always targeted in terms of my career is professional independence. I took classes at the Faculty of Engineering(UNAM). There I studied the course of Software Engineering with Dr. Daniel Trejo Medina. His class corrected the motivation of my wish. Transforming it from a simple “being my own boss”, to wishing to generate work for many people and a heritage to my family, of course, but also for others who may share at least a little of my vision; to create wealth to the nation and produce to give or improve. Dr. Trejo taught us that before being an Engineer, an individual must first be ethic. And he gave an example of that when he denounced acts of corruption within the University by his own bosses, act that brought him retaliation, including that this was the last course he taught in the faculty. I ask God for that spirit the day I have such a trial presented to me.

In that course we also read a book(The Mythical Man-Month, The: Essays on Software Engineering, by Frederick P. Brooks Jr.)that posed the origin of the software crisis as a communication problem. To illustrate the oldest example of a similar problem, the book referred to Genesis 11:1-9: The History of the Tower of Babel, “The First Great Fiasco of Engineering”. That was the first time I found an interesting reason for the Gibran of those times to reading the Bible, leaving in me a seed that years later would germinate in a quest for understanding of the word of God, of which I will speak, perhaps, in another entry, but whose sure influence will be felt in my way of speaking (And may God help me to make it be noticed above all, in my way of acting).
In that course I learned a lot about entrepreneurship, project management, documentation, software engineering standards, plan execution, politics and even a little bit of fashion. But well, there have been other people in my life who have taught me things in the professional realm. One of them is my cousin Edgar Echeverría, a metalhead freelancer who has taught me to “chop stone” and keep my feet on the ground. In addition to being for me an example of simplicity and love for the family. His “counterpart” (I say jokingly because of the relationship they carry), Marcelo Yaguna,has taught me other things that I am still assimilating, because being very sincere and with great respect for his motivations the business of the “life coaches” are not very honest from my point of view. But having seen his work up close as a salesman of ideas, aggressive negotiator, man of charity and, above all, entrepreneur, prevents me from having nothing to thank God for having crossed me in his path, ¡And so closely!, apart from having given me a lot of work and the fruits of it (From this stage of my life there are also many mistakes I made that I will review in some entries).
In the present, I work at FCA Mexico (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles)in what is so far the richest work experience I have ever had. And I think now is not the time to synthesis what I have learned from those with whom I have surrounded myself in this company. I can only say in a few words that my experience in this company is sooooocool and I feel blessed.
As for the practicality. Here is the secret of almost all ITprofessionals: what I do not know how to do, I “google” it (Rather I must say “Duckit” [I’m using Duck Duck Go lately]).
In the time that I have “free”, I find myself developing two different video games whose theme will be two books of the Bible, which I hope will serve for reflection, meditation, learning, debate and, above all, having fun.
It’s been like three years since I’ve stopped doing podcasts, but there is a spark in my soul (And when I say soul, I say mind and heart) that invites me to go back to publicizing after studying a little more theology, history and astronomy. And well, I think that’s a good summary of my training and professional experience. Although I also look forward to mentioning other cool teachers I had (like Gunnar Wolf), it will be in the future, because I do not want to provoke a very heavy reading.
